Work-ups

Work-ups, boil-ups - whatever you call them - this is the time of year the ocean comes to life. But what if your not Johnny on the spot - how do you find a work-up? For starters - the minimum kit for a work-up chaser is a fast boat and a good pair of binoculars. Now look for ....

1. Birds - Gannets in particular - are your best tell tail - watch where they’re headed.
2. Dolphins - love a good work-up - follow them if you can keep up.
3. Whales - are never far from bait schools - look for a large water spout.
4. Boats - a cluster of these are a sure sign the party has started without you.
